Chagdud Khadro - September 2009

An important teaching on death & dying by H.E. Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche

In 1977, Chagdud Khadro’s work as a writer and researcher for the New Yorker magazine took her to India's Himalayan region where she met Tibetan refugees, and discovered a deep spiritual affinity with the Nyingma school of Vajrayana Buddhism. In Nepal, she met her teacher, His Eminence Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche, and in 1979 became his wife. For the next 23 years, until Chagdud Tulku's Parinirvana in 2002, she remained his devoted student, focusing her efforts on maintaining the Vajrayana training that he established.

Chagdud Khadro was ordained as a lama in 1997. At that time, Rinpoche invested her as the future Spiritual Director of Chagdud Gonpa Brasil. At Khadro Ling in Brazil, she has worked with a "miraculously assembled team" of lamas, artists, and talented sangha members to construct a Guru Rinpoche Palace (Zangdog Palri), publish texts, and accomplish projects related to education, spiritual care for the dying, and ritual arts
